“I’d definitely return to this shop,” says mystery shopper
Shared Earth’s Bristol store had a customer recently who was not all she seemed! The mystery shopper was secretly giving Shared Earth its own summer exam.
Scoring top marks on all 19 questions, the staff need not have worried as their performance was impeccable. They were marked on everything from their knowledge of products and display techniques to handling transactions in a professional and friendly manner.
Shop manager Matt Kent is delighted with the 100% mystery shopping report. “I think the report shows how much all the staff love working here and how much we all believe in Fair Trade. Shared Earth has a real family feel to it and we are all keen to give customers the best experience possible so that they return.”
The Bristol Shared Earth store is one of seven in the UK that work with 40 producers in 15 countries. To help staff understand the impact that the products they sell have on world-wide communities, Shared Earth has regular visits to overseas producers and often takes staff members with them.
Matt visited India in January this year and raised over £300 for an orphanage outside Deli. “Because many of us have met the artisans and visited the workshops where some of the products are hand made, we feel so much more passionate about it. It’s definitely this ethos that drives us and buying our products gives customers a feel good factor that their purchase is making a difference.”
What’s more, the mystery shopper left additional notes on the form which read “I would definitely return due to the service I received.” They also remarked on the friendliness of staff, the variety of Fair Trade products and the help they received with their purchase.
Being the second 100% mystery shopping report over the last year, there is no doubt that Shared Earth’s values and the impact of Fair Trade are the driving force behind this consistent service.
